Message delivery query
Running Exchange 2007 SP2 with a third party (external) SMTP gateway. external@hotmail.com says they sent to user1@mydomain.com. User1 says they never received it. Our SMTP Gateway people say their logs show the message was passed to one of our Hub Transport servers. I ran get-messagetrackinglog and the eventID is DELIVER to the user's mailbox. How can we find out what happened to the message? In particular I'm interested in finding out what folder the message was delivered to, if User1 had any Outlook rules to send the message straight to Deleted Items etc.

Exchange doesn't log to that level. The most you can get is that it was delivered to the mailbox successfully. I basically trust message tracking more than I believe the user. Therefore the message is there somewhere, or the user has deleted it and doesn't want to admit it. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.
