Merging contact databases without losing information

Currently, I am trying to update my company's contact database. I have made an export from Linkedin and loaded it into Outlook so I have te most up to date company, title and email address per person.

I would like to update the old database with the information from Linkedin by merging the two PST files together. However, in some instances I want to keep  the email address from the old database and add the one received from Linkedin, instead of the email from the old database being overwritten (sometimes the Linkedin email is a personal email and not a company email). Other information like company and title can be overwritten.

Is there a way to select what information is overwritten or added to a contact when merging the two databases?

I tried looking it up online, but so far now luck.

Hopefully, you can help!

Hello,

This can be easily done. You can apply filters to the specific fields. This can be achieved by importing the two PST file one by one. Or if you want to merge contacts with your current PST file, then you can import the another PST file.

1. To import a file, move to "File" >> "Import and Export".

2. After that select "Import from another program or file".

3. Next >> "pst file".

4. Browse the PST file and select the option "Remove duplicates with items imported".

After that you can select only the contacts folder from all the other folders.

Note: The contact folder was not present in my PST file. But it will be present in yours, so select that folder to merge your contacts.

After this Click on "Filter" option to apply filter to some specific fields.

Select the required field for which duplicates can be overwritten or removed. >> "OK".

Click "Finish" to import and merge the contacts.
