Merge mailboxes in Exchange 2007
Hi I have a mailbox named Marketing1 and I would like to merge the contents of this with Marketing2. Both are live mailboxes. They have corresponding sub-folders though, i.e. Marketing1 has subfolders named EMEA, APAC, LTAM etc as does Marketing2. When the merge happens, I would like EMEA folder emails to be merged together, APAC subfolder mails to be merged together etc. Any idea on how to do this? I guess we can either export one mailbox to PST and then import, but will this keep the folder structure I need? Likewise, isn't there a merge-mailbox command I can use? Running Exchange 2007 Sp2.

If you use export-mailbox and then import-mailbox the directory structure is maintained. The other option would be to simply open both mailboxes in Outlook and drag and drop the folders. If you drop a folder with the same name then they will be merged. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Thank you very much Simon. From what you're saying, the only option is to export the mailbox to PST and then import? Is it even possible to run a merge-mailbox command in this instance? And if we did, what happens to the directory structure? > If you drop a folder with the same name then they will be merged. Not sure what you mean by this.

I am not really sure what else I can say. If you have a folder called "Sales" and you drop another folder called "Sales" in to the same location, then the content will be merged. There is no merge mailbox that I am aware of, you can only import/export. But if the two mailboxes are on the same server that is a waste of time. Just use Outlook to move the content across.
