Hi, Would you please let me know whether the Autodiscover Redirection/SRV record is configured. I would like to explain that the message will be encountered if the Autodiscover Redirection is configured and Outlook is redirected to another URL. In addition, please let me know whether the internal domain joined clients encounter the problem. I would like to explain that I am able to reproduce the issue on my lab if Autodiscover Redirection is configured. From the following log after enable logging on Outlook, when I adding an external recipient in meeting request and select Schedule Assistant to check Free/Busy status. https://DC.externallab.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml found through SCP 400 2890977 07/22/09 16:46:59 Autodiscover to https://DC.externallab.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml starting 400 2891087 07/22/09 16:46:59 Autodiscover XML Received ---BEGIN XML--- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006"> <Response> <Error Time="16:47:02.5292800" Id="3456612316"> <ErrorCode>500</ErrorCode> <Message>The e-mail address cannot be found.</Message> <DebugData /> </Error> </Response> </Autodiscover> ----END XML---- From the above log files, you can see that Outlook attempts to resolve the external email address and failed with error 500 because no contact for the email address. From the following log files, you can see that Outlook attempts to use hard-coded URL continuously to resolve the external email address. 400 2891087 07/22/09 16:46:59 Autodiscover to https://DC.externallab.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml FAILED (0x800C8203) 400 2891087 07/22/09 16:46:59 Autodiscover to https://lab.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml starting 400 2891117 07/22/09 16:46:59 Autodiscover to https://lab.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml FAILED (0x800C8203) 400 2891117 07/22/09 16:46:59 Autodiscover to https://autodiscover.lab.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml starting 400 2891127 07/22/09 16:46:59 Autodiscover to https://autodiscover.lab.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml FAILED (0x800C8203) 400 2891127 07/22/09 16:46:59 Local autodiscover for lab.com starting 400 2891127 07/22/09 16:46:59 Local autodiscover for lab.com FAILED (0x8004010F) As my lab has Autodiscover Redirection configured, the Outlook attempts to connect through the Redirection URL and receive the same result (The e-mail address cannot be found). Based on the current situation, we can apply group policy to domain joined client to disable the http redirection and SRV record lookups You can add following two registry keys to disable http redirection and SRV record lookups: HKCU\Software\[Policies]\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover DWORD set to 1 ExcludeHttpRedirect ExcludeSrvRecord For more information: Outlook 2007 unexpectedly connects to an on-premise Exchange Server 2007 server mailbox instead of an Exchange Online server mailbox http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956297/en-us Mike

Sorry for the late reply, what are downsides of not allowing redirection? We have 2 sites with 2 hub/cas servers and 1 mb server at each site. Would this prevent users from site A from looking up free busy on site B? Thanks for the assistance.

Hi, Please understand that for internal domain joined Outlook 2007 clients, they should retrieve Autodiscover URL from SCP record. It is unnecessary to use http redirection to locate the Autodiscover URL. For external clients not able to connect to DC, they are not able to retrieve Autodiscover URL from SCP record. They may need to use HTTP redirection to locate Autodiscover URL based on your configuration. Therefore, I suggest you disable http redirection and SRV record lookups in internal domain joined client by using Group Policy.
