Meeting Requests not formatted correctly unless TNEF/RTF is enabled, which breaks HTML
When receiving meeting requests from Exchange 5.5 into Exchange 2007, the meeting requests are not formatted correctly. They are basically plain text formatted with no "Accept" or "Decline" buttons. Configuring the Internet Mail Service connector in Exchange 5.5 to forcing all messages to be Rich Text formatted resolves the issue, however HTML-formatted messages are then broken. Similarly, meeting requests from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 5.5 arrive as .ATT attachments, instead of traditonal IPM.Schedule messages. Turning on TNEF on the remote domain, or forcing all messages to be Rich Text formatted resolves the issue. However, HTML emails are then broken. I am looking for a solution that will satisfy both requirements until we can get this customer off Exchange 5.5. I have looked into leveraging Transport Rules, but have not been able to identify anything viable. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Hello Mr. Miceli We have the same problem with a customer of ours. Did you get to the bottom of this issue? If yes, how did you sort it out? Any ideas? thanks in advance Colin

Hi Colin, I opened a case with PSS, and it was determined that due to the limitations in Exchange 5.5, there was no "win-win" solution. We explained to the customer that they would not be able to have both meeting requests and HTML-formatted messages sent between Exchange 5.5 and 2007 working properly during the coexistence phase, and that they would need to decide which was more important.
