Maximum number of multiple users using outlook and accessing a single mailbox
Hi, There are 10 users accessing a single mailbox at the same time using outlook. I want to know the maximum number of users. Although still at this limit, some of the users do not connect or their outlook stops responding. Thanks
Server: Exchange 2007
Clients: Outlook 2003 SP1
Mailbox: 1
Users: 10+
Mailbox size: 5GB

Ten users isn't a very large number.

Are they using the mailbox as their primary mailbox, or is it a
delegate mailbox? Are they searching the mailbox?
What release of Exchange? What release of desktop O/S? What release of
MS Office?

sounds like this is a shared mailbox where each user has "full" and send as access . send as may not be there
there is no specified limit on numbers of users connection at a time. for exchange it is just a RPC request, and i/o.
using cached exchange mode is recommended. you should have added this cuncurrency factor while planning capacity for exchange serverDhruv || Email - Polaris_1942@hotmail.com

Suggest you look at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc535025(EXCHG.80).aspx -
Understanding the Performance Impact of High Item Counts and Restricted Views
If you have more than 11 users constantly accessing a mailbox the server will be tearing down and setting up new views all the time which will have an impact on them and anyone else on the server. It's a very expensive operation as far as Exchange is concerned.
Especially if they are looking at calendars.
