MaxRecepient limit for External Domain User
Hi Team, I want to know how does the "MaxRecipientEnvelopeLimit" works? if I set MaxRecipientEnvelopeLimit to 50 would that effect the internal mail flow between internal mailboxes? I would like to limit External user only be able to sent up to 50 recipients per email if they send it from external source i.e send it from gmail and yahoo account. but I do not want to limit the number of recipients can recieve internally. Please let us know how it works ? can I set above setting in my production environment as I am using Exchange 2010 SP2. Quick response would be appreciated ! Regards, Vinod

Set-TransportConfig applies across the entire organization, which I take to mean that it will affect internal messages. Not that it's a bad thing--it'd head off reply-to-all problems to the whole organization. As the documentation says, distribution groups count as one recipient. To accomplish what you want, you could create a receive connector for Internet-source mail and specify the MaxRecipeintsPerMessage parameter.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Hello, You can restrict the number of recipients per message at the mailbox level, organization level, connector( for receive connector only) level and transport server level in your exchange organization. According to your requirment, you can create a distribution group, which is regarded as one recipient. Here is the article for your reference.
