MapiExceptionNotAuthorized error when internal user sending to an email enabled public folder Exchange 2007
I have 2 internal users that I know of, out of 2500 users, that whenever they send an e-mail to any e-mail enabled public folder, they get the following error: <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:roman; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-1610611985 1107304683 0 0 415 0;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:swiss; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-520092929 1073786111 9 0 415 0;} @font-face {font-family:Tahoma; panose-1:2 11 6 4 3 5 4 4 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:swiss; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-520081665 -1073717157 41 0 66047 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri;} .MsoPapDefault {mso-style-type:export-only;} @page WordSection1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.0in 1.0in 1.0in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.WordSection1 {page:WordSection1;} --> #550 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service reported an error. External accounts can send to this address fine, too. All other internal users have no problems sending to this account. I've gone as far as creating a test user and putting them in all the same groups as these users and that user can send to this public folder too. I've also given these 2 users OWNER permissions of this folder. I think i've covered all the bases I can, does anyone have an explanation?

Hi, See this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/405c0215-4af9-4445-a6e1-358be5c95fbf Regards from www.windowsadmin.info I've read that thread before - i've given Default create item permissions, so that thread really didn't contain any new information. Sorry.

Hi, Try to check if the two users are in the reject list of the public folder: 1. Open EMC->Tools->Public Folder Management Console. 2. In Mail Flow Settings, click Message Delivery Restrictions and click Properties. 3. See the "Reject messages from" list. If this is not the case, try to disable the user's mail and then reconnect. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. Thanks

No one is in the reject messages from list. I've tried disabling one of the users email and then reconnecting, they received the same error.

This happens to any mail-enabled public folder they send to?

Is security inheritance disabled for their accounts?

Excuse my ignorance - but how would I go about checking that?
August 17th, 2010 11:45pm

Via ADUC is probably the easiest Chekc Advanced Features under View Then look up the users and under the security tab/advanced button. Inheritance should be checked.

Does the problem exist for a newly created mail-enabled folder as well?

Yes, i've tried creating several new public folders and the problem exists with those too.

As a test i've tried it on a different computer, and from OWA. Same results.

Is there any difference between these 2 users and the others as far when how their malboxes were created or moved to 2007? Do they show up as regular user mailboxes in EMC? Can they create, modofy and delete items in those public folders via Outlook or OWA?
August 24th, 2010 12:59am

I don't see any difference between these users and others. They can post and delete items from within the folder, they just can't e-mail the folder.

One thing. You mentioned before that you have set DEFAULT to contributor permissions and that external can send to this folder as well. I assume then that anonymous is set to Contributor as well? Any idea when this started for these 2 users?
August 24th, 2010 10:46pm

Yes, external users can send to the folder. They are both set to contributer. I actually have the users who are having problems set to OWNER. No idea when the problems started occuring.

I've given up - but i've made a workaround. I created a user account that can send just fine to the public folder, and now the users use that email address, and it forwards automatically to the public folder.

I would open a case with Microsoft.
