Add\ Remove programs of exchange 2003 not working, looks like I need to do the manual uninstall.... After reading through instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833396 , I want to check to see if this is correct. I stopped all the services on the Exch 2003 server. All functionality is working on 2007 server. The Exchange 2003 server is only running exchange, so there is no need to save it as server. So if I just shut it down and proceed to the step about removing it from active directory using the System manager step. Will that work, or am I missing something? Hello But before you begin uninstalling the Exchange 2003 Server, You must first need to assign the Recipient Update Service (RUS) to Exchange 2007 Server. Did you moved all public folder replicas. " So if I just shut it down and proceed to the step about removing it from active directory using the System manager step. " If you want to remove the server from ESM, you cannot shut the Exchange server down. No, I have not. I have shutdown all the Exchange 2003 Services on the server. The exchange 2007 server has been running w/o any problems. Still waiting for an answer.

Then you either bring Exchange 2003 Server back up and remove from Add/Remove programs or if you cannot, follow http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833396. This will remove it properly from AD.MVP Exchange Server

After manually removing the one and only Exchange 2003 server in our Exchange 2010 Organization, as per 833396, and also performing the steps mentioned here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg576862.aspx I still see the First Administrative Group branch in ADSIedit. Is there any remaining cleanup to be performed in AD related to the manually removed Exchange 2003 server, in order to complete the upgrade and have a pure and healthy Exchange 2010 Organization?
