Manged folder assistant for retention policy

Hi,

I am having issue with some mailboxes retention policy not working for folders with personal tags to move to archive. The policy that I have is emails from tagged folder to move to Archive after 1 day. I checked daily work cycle is 1 day run at midnight. Looks like some mailboxes retention policy is working but some are not. I am on exchange 2010 sp3 (14.03.0224.002).

I have tried running Start-ManagedFolderAssistant -Identity user and don't get any errors but still policy is not working.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Cheers,

Pwint.

The issue occurs because the retention policy runs automatically one time every 7 days for mailboxes that are larger than 10 MB. However, the retention policy does not automatically run for mailboxes that are smaller than 10 MB or within 7 days work cycle.

To resolve the issue, manually run Start-ManagedFolderAssistant Identity <mailbox> cmdlet to force Managed Folder Assistant to process the specific mailbox

Hi, Thanks for the reply. This Start-ManagedFolderAssistant Identity <mailbox> doesn't work all the time. In outlook, I see two types of policies under assign policy. 1. Archive policy Move to archive for tag folders after certain days - not working Move to archive for ALL folders after certain days - seems to work 2. Rentention Policy Delete for tag folders after certain days - seems to work Delete for ALL folder after certain days - have not tried. Is there an article about this 7 days rentention policy to clarify? Thanks, Pwint

Hi

What could be the reason that nothing is happening when i run Start-ManagedFolderAssistant Identity <mailbox>

I have exchange CAL license and mailbox size is 20 GB. I assigned 30 days retention policy to sent folder and run powershell Start-ManagedFolderAssistant but mails are not moving to archive.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I copied some mails from sent folder to test folder and assign 30 days retention policy to delete and that works when I run Start-ManagedFolderAssistant.

So why is it Start-ManagedFolderAssistant doesnt work for Archive policy?

Thanks,

Pwint
