Managing Folders in OWA
When managing folders (e.g., renaming, copying, moving, etc.) that have subfolders an error message is incurred, an error appears saying- "The folder could not be moved or copied. This may have occurred because you don't have appropriate permission for the folder, or a top-level folder cannot be moved to one of its subfolders." How do I solve this?

Hi - remember to include your full versions of everything (including service packs) when posting as that can make a big difference. Let us know whether this happens when you use Outlook to manage the same mailbox, and whether anyone else is having problems with this. Also - if these are public folders and if so whether you have full permissions.Lanwench [MVP - Exchange] ** Do not fold, spindle or mutilate. Fill in the box completely and erase any stray marks. Use only a #2 pencil.

We have Outlook 2007 on an Exchange server, but this happens when we are using OWA. It is a problem altering any folder that has a sub folder.

Hi, First, I would like to confirm the following questions: 1. Which version of Exchange Server is installed, Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007? 2. Does the symptom occur when logging to the same mailbox via Outlook 2007? 3. Does the error occur on certain Exchange user or each Exchange user? This issue can occur by incorrect permission as Lanwench was mentioned. To verify the Mailbox or Public Folder permission, please refer to the following article: Working with Public Folder and Mailbox Permissions If the subfolders still cannot be modified, please check whether there is any error in Event Log. Thanks.Novak Wu-MSFT
