Making clones of a shape ?

i have a shape in my flow chart that is "central" to that flow chart ,by "central" i mean that this shape get arrows pointing to it from so many other shapes ,that shape contain few lines of text that is updated from time to time.

in order to make things tidy i need to make multiple clones of that shape it such a way that if i adjusted the text in the original shape all the clones get updated. how ? (visio 2010)

Hi,

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to update the text of dependent shapes at once. Am I right? If yes, please try the following workarounds and check if it is helpful.

1) Create a Background page and place the master shape with the universal information there.

2) Create a macro to modify the text string at same time.

3) Use a external data source and links to every shape.

Hope it's helpful.

If I misunderstood something, please feel free let me know.

i believe if that what it takes to do it , its not worth it because a flow chart program is a tool that you use to easy stuff.

the above procedure is a quest by itself. can't do that.

thank you very much anyway

Put the text into a user-defined or shapedata cell on the page, then the central shape can reference that cell for its text.
