Making an Exchange Server into a Primary Domain Controller & Exchange server
Hi, Is it recomended and if not why? I just started working for a small local manufacturing company which does NOT have a PDC. They have a file server and ERP server an exchange server and a couple of other boxes which are going away soon. The company is a metal (stainless steel)fabrication company, with less than 100 staff. All in a single location/facility I have been tasked to come up with the best computer configuration for the company. They are not big fans of Domain control, but are open to the idea if it makes sense. My suggestion is... PDC/Exchange server File/SQL server SharePoint/WEB server ERP/RedHat server My big question is "should the PDC & Exchange reside on the same box?" Remember we are small and email is not a huge load. Thanks Phill

If there is an Exchange server installed, there must be a windows domain since Exchange is dependant on it. And with a domain you also get Domain Controllers, and one is the PDC emulator. if you're talking Win200x /Lasse
