Making a customized template available for use
I have a customized Visio template (*.vst) from a supervisor that they would like to make available to all users.  Where on the system do I need to store that .vst template file to make it available as a template for all Visio users to create docum

since you didn't say what version of Visio you are using, for v2010

File=>Options=>Advanced (go to the bottom of the panel)=>File Locations... Add it to the list of Template paths

It doesn't really matter as long as you update the template path in the Visio software to point to where you have installed it.

There is also the official way to distribute a template, might be a bit OTT but I think it should be mentioned.

That method is to use a .msi installer file, this can be created in several ways, Visual Studio, or various other installation programs (I use WarSetup), then used the Visio Solution Publishing Tool to add the Visio information.

I've been meaning to get around to find the time to consider writing up the process in an article. I could do this for one of my demos and include all the files as a complete example. I'll see what I can do this coming week.

I am working on the same issue of distributing standardized templates and stencils in our environment. I was wondering if you had the time to develop a .MSI or some other solution for this issue.
