Mails getting stuck in directory lookup
We're running E2K3 with Anitgen 9.0 and one of the Bridgehead server is doing something very strange, all the messages sent to it are getting stuck in the awaiting directory lookup queue. I've checked the DS Access properties of the server and it can see numerous DCs & GCs and can telnet to the boxes on the relevant ports. We're getting some errors from Antigen thrown up in the event log AntigenSmtpSink Event ID 4008 TION: Smtp sink status 3, method returned 0xc004012d. I've googled this error and had the suggestion of disabling Antigen with the antutil command, rebooting and restarting antigen but this hasn't helped. We also found an article that suggest the cause is we're an open relay, which we're certainly not. All the messages we're seeing queuing are legit messages to and from our internal user base. We've currently got the SMTP service stopped at the moment to force traffic through the other Bridgehead but as soon as we turn it back on the queue starts to build again. One curious aside when we try and stop the SMTP service it won't stop cleanly and goes into a stopping state. We've also run the BPA and it's not shown anything significant. Hi,This queue contains messages to recipients who have not yet been resolved against the Microsoft Active Directory directory service. Messages are also held in this queue while distribution lists are expanded. Generally, messages accumulate in this queue because the advanced queuing engine cannot categorize the message. The advanced queuing engine may not be able to access the global catalog servers or to access the recipient information. Or, the global catalog servers are unreachable or are performing slowly.The DC and GC are there to be running normal from your testing. Thus, the cause of the issue can be caused by other factors.Please increase diagnostic logging for the MSExchangeDSAccess service and for the MSExchangeTransport service to collect information about Categorizer components, then reproduce this issue and post the event log.Make up one point about how to disable and enable Antigen:1. Stop the following services in this order:a. Antigen Service service (note - there are 4 Antigen services - this one is actually called the "Antigen Service" serviceb.IIS Adminc. MS Exchange SAd. SMTPe. WMI2. Go to a command prompt and change directories to C:\Program Files\Sybari Software\Antigen for Exchange3. Type in: antutil /disable Note you are without virus protection at this point4. You should see a message saying that "Antigen not currently integrated"5. Now type in: antutil /enable6. You should see a message saying "Antigen successfully integrated"7. Reboot the server and have the services start automatically.ThanksAllen
