Mailboxes purged
Hi Running Exchange 2003 and hit the 75g size limit. Started to delete mailboxes and purged them yet the priv1.edb file size remaines the same. How long will it take for the deleted mailboxes to reflect? Am I missing a step? Thank you, Michael

the file size will not change until you defrag the database. the server must complete online maintenance before there will be whitespace available for the defrag. How to defragment with the Eseutil utilityhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/192185

Are you running the exchange 2003 STD version? if you have purged the mailbox then you need to wait till online maintenance runs. please check for event 1221 and you will have to go for offline defrag on order to claim the free space in database http://support.microsoft.com/kb/186291 Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Ok so I preformed an Online defrag and the event ID1221 shows that there will only be 4mb of freespace. The amount of space based on the mailboxes I deleted and purged should be in the gigs range not MB. Does this make sense?
