1. when you shutdown mbx01, what is the Database status in mbx02 ?

please check this by using 'Get-MailboxDatabaseCopystatus -server mbx02' cmdlet

2. if all databases on mbx02 are not healthy, which means active manager (PAM) is not getting moved to mbx02.

3. use the below cmd to move the PAM to mbx02

cluster.exe DAG Name /MoveTo:NewDAG

where DAG Name is your DAG Cluster Name and NewDAG is the node where you want to move the PAM to.

Hi ,

1.As per my understanding MBX2 is shutdown then exchange is not functioning .However exchange is functioning when we shutdown the Mbx1 .

2.Most importantly  in your case you are having two node .So first of all we need to make sure that the two nodes can able to reach the file share witness and vice versa.

3.After MBX1 is down .Please make sure the cluster resources on the failover cluster manager is up and running. Moreover we need to ensure that the cluster service on the MBX2 is up and running.

4.What would be the status for the databases after MBX2 is down ?

get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus * | ft -au

5.Analyze the event logs and cluster logs for further troubleshooting on node MBX2 .

6.Where you kept the file share witness ?

7.Does both the mailbox severs are on the Same active directory site ?

Dear ,

I have made CAS file witness server ... yes both the mailbox servers are on same site ....

just dont know why this is happening .... if mbx1 shuts down the whole exchange environment doesnot responds... Mbx2 should take a charge and make sure that the exchange services are running

may be this is happening due to the following reasons i may be wrong but ...

1) MBX1 installation (Exchange organization name .....abc)   on 1st VM

2)Mbx2 installation on 2nd VM

3)CAS installation on 3rd VM

is it ok to install and configure CAS/Hub role in the end????

Hi ,

is it ok to install and configure CAS/Hub role in the end????

Your installation order is perfect .Mailbox role and client access server in exchange 2013 .

Have you checked all of my points ?

Hi,

As mentioned above, please answer the question as Nithyanandham provided. Its more helpful for further troubleshooting.
Heres an article about Exchange 2010 High Availability Misconceptions Addressed, for your reference:

Besides, please run below command to enable Datacenter Activation Coordination(DAC) mode to control the database mount on startup behavior of a DAG:
Set-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup -Identity DAG1 -DatacenterActivationMode DagOnly

DAC will likely not help here.  Would rather fix this before making further changes.

Double check all of the network configuration, including firewall rules. And like the other guys mentioned, troubleshoot this as a cluster issue first and foremost.
