Mailbox always created, do I need them ?

We are adding Exchange servers to our environment but each time we install Exchange on the server a default mailbox is automatically created as well. Do I really need them ? can I delete all of them ? Exchange 2013

Like Jesper said they contain the System Mailboxes.  They don't have to sit there in the default location or even the same name.  If you can always rename then using Set-Mailbox and then use the Move-DatabasePath cmdlets to move them to a different location. (which is what i always do)

If you don't want to keep them around (for whatever reason) you can always move them to a new database.
