Mailbox account rename???

We are to rename an account in full. We would still like E-Mail sent to the old address to arrive but would like a rule to issue a message to say that the person no longer works here, even though the mail will be sent to their account in the new name. This is for internal and external mail.

I know a secondary SMTP address can make sure the mail arrives but we need to be sure a message goes out to only those mails sent to the old name. Weve also noticed that outlook is clever enough when an alias is in place that when you type out the old name within our domain, it gets corrected to the primary address.

Any help apprecia

This is a bad idea because you will be telling spammers that they've reached a valid address and that information will catch on like wildfire.

If you still want to do this, you can enable automatic replies to the Internet and create Inbox Assistant rules that reply to messages and forward them to a new mailbox that has the new address.

Hi,

Please follow Ed's suggestion to create an Inbox rule in Outlook to set auto-reply for this renamed account. If any users send message to this account, they would receive an auto-reply to indicate the person no longer works here.

Additionally, if you still want to use old email address for the new account, we can set the primary email address for this new account to old email address to have a try.

Regards,
