Mailbox Store size is growing rapidly
Hi All, Mailbox & Public Folder Store of my Exchange Server (EXStd.2003 with SP2) was down as the disk containing Transaction Logs got full due to rapid growth of Transaction Logs.We moved the log location to other disk with higher capacity and mounted both the stores. While monitoring the Server for 6 Hrs,We found that the size of priv1.edb was increasing by 1GB per hour till3 Hours. After 3 Hrs,the growth is stillapprox. 250MB per hour. Meanwhile the Transaction logs are still getting generated with same rate and reached 4.5GB in 6 Hrs. (We took the online backup before 6 Hrs. to flush the logs). We are having scheduled backup of exchange and usually the size of logsis between 2.25 GB to 2.5GB per day. Have checkedmailbox size of all users (310) and found no growthin any of the mailbox (Some users are not having Quota for mailbox, rest are limited to 30MB) There are no Events getting logged in Application/System Events. I am unable to figure out the cause of this rapid growth in Transaction Logs and Priv1.edb. Any suggestion will be of great help!!

I am currently experiencing the same problem with a new SBS 2003 Std (w/ SP2) installation. I've only setup two mailboxes with message items totalling about 350MB, and yet overnight the Exch Store grew to 17GB before it dismounted the store. Were you able to resolve this problem, and if so, how? Any help would be greatly appreciated. John

It sounds like rapid growth was a problem before you moved the transac logs then right? Are you sure you don't have journaling turned on? Also, maybe run a virus and open-relay check.
