Mailbox Sharing and how to keep message as unread
Hi,I have setup a mailbox for sharing between 3 users. Two of them should have read-only access to the mailbox, means, after they read the message, it should be kept as "unread", so the third user can work on the new ones. The problem for me is, I tried to assign only "read" permissionsonto the shared mailboxAD user object, but those two users are still able to change message from "Unread" to "Read".So what is the right way to do this? How can I assign Read-Only permissions for those 2 users on the shared mailbox. Through PS?Thanks,

Giving Read-Only permission is bit tricky but possible. Mailbox access requires either Full Mailbox Access in Mailbox Rights at AD level (where you set Read but it won't work) or MAPI permission can be set to give granual access. So to set read-only mailbox you can use MAPI permission method. You can open mailbox in outlook and give at least Folder Visible permission on "Mailbox - Display Name" and Reviewer permission on all folders like Inobx, Sent Item, Calendar, Contact etc... Refer below article on minimum permission required to access mailbox... Minimum permissions necessary to access mailbox data http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/01/25/418099.aspx However setting read-only permission still marks message read when somebody opens it because it is controlled with a MAPI attribute of an item by outlook but not by user permission so it is still a black hole for your requirement...
