Mailbox Migration 2k10 to 2k13

Hi,

In my test environment i have 2xEX2010 CAS in a Casarray. 2xEX2010 Mailbox in a DAG. 2xEX2013 CAS in a NLB, 2xEX2013 Mailbox in a DAG. That is all working fine. Public folders are hosted on the mailbox servers on Exchange 2010. All clients (Office 2007,2010,2013) connect via Outlook Anywhere

All of the Autodiscover/Outlook Anywhere URL's point to the EX2013CAS as far as I am aware.

Am I right in thinking in that in this environment, a mailbox move shouldn't leave me with the prompt to restart Outlook? I've read through http://blogs.technet.com/b/vytas/archive/2014/11/12/your-administrator-has-made-a-change-and-requires-you-to-restart-outlook.aspx but from my limited understanding, it doesnt apply to me. Feel free to correct!

Where am I going wrong? I'd like to not receive this prompt in the test environment or in turn live.

Thanks

James

You are not right in that thinking.  My experience is that you will always get the restart prompt, and it's my understanding that it's because clients switch from MAPI/RPC to Outlook Anywhere.

Thanks Ed but, my Outlook clients still connect via RPC/HTTP after the restart.....

Right, that's what I said.  Outlook Anywhere is RPC/HTTP or MAPIHTTP.

Hi Ed, the clients connect to Exchange 2010 via Outlook Anywhere specifically RPC/HTTP. After the mailbox move the clients connect to Exchange 2013 via Outlook Anywhere specifically RPC/HTTP as I have disabled MAPI HTTP on the 2013 infrastructure.
