Mail enabling existing AD user
I have just setup a new test environment with a new installation of Exch2007 Beta2. I can create a new mail enabled user in EMC, but if I create a new user in AD, how do I mail enable this account? there doesn't seem to be an exchange tab and the user is not listed in Mailbox under Recipient Configuration.

Sorry that was a silly question. Enabled an existing user in new mailbox wizard.

Not silly at all! Especially since we've changed the management paradigm with Exchange 2007. Now all recipient management is done using the Exchange Management Console or the Exchange Management Shell. ADUC is no longer used to manage Exchange recipients. Note that you can use the Exchange Management Console or the Exchange Management Shell to create new users, too. So you don't need to use ADUC to create the user and some other tool to create the mailbox. Just do it all with the Exchange Management Console or the Exchange Management Shell. Hope this helps.

Hi No offence, but if you have 2000 company users and would like to install Exchange Server 2007, are you saying that "New Mailbox.." wizard will need to be run 2000 times? Errmmm... "where is that Exchange 2000 Server CD,I am sure I played frisbee with it when i was young" Absulutely gutted to see that Exchange Server 2007 does not add a mailbox related tab to user account properties. *Disgusted really* BE AWARE:- Do not delete users from AD if they have a mail box associated. Delete mailbox and use will be deleted automatically. (Exchange Server 2007 is integrated in a way you "do not" want it to and not integrated the way you "wanted" it to). Guess we will see service pack sooner than Bill gate on Microsoft Homepage again

Hi Great how Exchange Server 2007 works. You get used to AD over 2- 5 years and you make it youe home. Exchange Server 2007 really changes the way you work (makes years of mental mapping into " " emptiness).

If you delete a mail box, it really does delete the AD account as well. Do you know of a way to delete ONLY the email account and not the AD account?
