Mail blocked - best practices to avoid
Aside from a users mailbox being full, what other reasons are there why an email, be it from an internal employee, or an external employee may not get through to the intended recipient? And... if an email doesnt get through because a users mailbox is full, if the user frees up some space, does the email automatically resend and come through, or not. This is exchange 2003. My concern is some of our email addresses are a form of "helpline" for vulnerable adults, and if they send an email and for whatever reason it doesnt get through it is not providing the service it should.

If the recipient's "Prohibit Send and Receive" limit is reached, the message is returned to the sender with a non-delivery report (NDR) and not retried. There are other administrative settings that can affect message delivery such as disabling a mailbox or setting delivery restrictions, and they also cause an NDR. If you want to make sure mail is delivered set the "Prohibit Send and Receive" limit much higher than the "Prohibit Send" limit. That way it should never come into effect unless you have something like a nasty store-exhausting mail loop.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
