Mail being routed incorrectly to an additional mailbox
We have a user, Rene, who is receiving both his mail and mail for another user named Dayami. The two sample messages Rene gave me both came from the internet. Our MX logs and the relay logs both show that the only recipient was Dayami. The Exchange 2010 SP1 UR4v2 logs show that it was received/delivered to both recipients. Users who are paid through our company (normal employees and temps) get entered into an online payroll processing company and we import the data daily using a script at 4AM. Sometimes the process gets run manually later in the day under certain circumstances, however. New users are created programmatically and we just mail enable the accounts. I sent a test message to Rene with a delivery receipt yesterday. Exchange states it was only delivered to Rene. Sent a test message to Dayami, Exchange delivery report says it was only delivered to Dayami. From ADSIEdit: Dayami: "domain.com/Departments/Company/FL/2059/Lastname, Dayami" Rene: "domain.com/Departments/Company/FL/2012/Lastname, Rene" Dayami: msExchMailboxGuid: 1C 94 FA F7 4C 69 06 4C 87 63 85 A4 4F 9A 37 5F Rene: msExchMailboxGuid: BF 68 19 27 3A 56 F9 4E B9 E5 1F CA 82 8C 01 07 Dayami: account created 2/16/2011 4:01:08AM Rene: account created 9/18/2008 2:44:03PM I've seen it in the past where the programming script (written and maintained by a non-domain admin) accidentally gave the same GUID to multiple people created the same day, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Rene says it's been happening about 2.5 months, which doesn't coincide with the account creation dates. Dayami does not have any forwarding configured on his mailbox. Looking for suggestions on how to isolate what's happening here and fix it.

Both users have two addresses: first.last@domain1.com and first.last@domain2.com, and only for their own names. Both have a single X400 address matching their own name, but only Rene has a FAX address. Both have identical mailbox settings (either disabled or at defaults). Both have identical mail flow settings (all options at defaults). Both have identical full access permissions, neither has access to the other's mailbox. If there's a way to check for delegates other than the send-on-behalf list, please let me know.

These staff members only use webmail, so is there a way I can check the server/client rules actually from the server without having to involve the end users or being able to login as them?

If you have permissions to access the mailbox assigned to your account you could view rules via http://mfcmapi.codeplex.com/ Otherwise I understand that you shall need to involve the end user. Regards

Besides, you can try to use get-inboxrule to find rules from these users. With MFCmapi, we can check all the rules including hidden and currpt rules. Using the get-inboxrule cmdlet showed me that Rene's supervisor, Dayami, had created a rule in her mailbox to make this happen without his knowledge. Thanks for referencing that cmdlet, Xiu.
