Mail Contacts Do not show in OAB GAL
Hello, I Imported 7xx External mail contacts a few days ago and they do not seem to be showing up in the OAB GAL, that is when a user is in cached mode they cannot see the new 7xx contacts added in the gal. They can see them if they do a drop down to all contacts. We require cached mode, and i do not want to have to add the all contacts to the "When sending mail, check names...." for every user. When not using cache mode the contacts are there, no issues. I have added the All Contacts to the Default Offline address book, but that hasn't seem to have resolved the issue. Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hi,which exchange version you are running...Create a address book which will contain all mentioned addresses.Create one OAB and add above created address bookto the newly created OAB.Check the update interval, now try to download offline address book from outlook.Check sync logs forany error...Abhishek

Hi,Outlook cache mode uses OABto store GAL locally, update frequency of OAB is once in a day and default time is 4AM in the morning.You may need to rebuilt/update it manually and then need to download OAB in outlook by going into Tools -> Send/Receive for immediate effect.New user does not show up in GALhttp://exchangepedia.com/blog/2005/11/new-user-does-not-show-up-in-gal.htmlAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

First i enabled logging by running Set-EventLogLevel -Identity MSExchangeSA\OAL Generator Level Experton the OAB generation server. I discovered that i was getting 7xx errors about smtp address being invalid.Upon looking at the contact in aduc, the mail contacts had no email address even though i had the -PrimarySmtpAddress, and ExternalEmailAdress in place.What i needed to do was add the -windowsemailaddress as such and now everything looks good...get-mailcontact | export-csv c:\user.csvopen the csv in excel, verify that the primarysmtpaddress column is correct, then..import-csv c:\users.csv | foreach {set-mailcontact -WindowsEmailAddress $_.PrimarySmtpAddress}
