MS Word keyboard shorcuts

Hi,

I have a very strange problem with Word. Shortcuts are completely messed up. I know i can change these shortcuts in options, but i am not going to change a huge amount of shortcuts 1 by 1. I had this problem on windows 8.1 + office 2013 and after trying everything, i went back to windows7 + office 2010 but it's not helping. For test i ran Excel and PowerPoint, shortcuts in those work just fine, so ONLY WORD is going wild. This is the only computer that has this issue and it seems i can't solve it, neither find a solution for it. I hope someone here is familiar with this problem and will be able to help me out.

Best regards,

Raed Abu-Haija.

Do you mean the issue persists after you switch to Windows 7 + Office 2010?

Is this a clean Windows System? Any software or custom setting pre-defined? This seems to be an issue with some custom settings on Windows side.

Some shortcuts depend on the user interface language/default input keyboard language, I've seen one case that user end up this by changing the default keyboard input language of Windows to English keyboard. You might want to check this and see if it works for you.

Yes, the issue persists after i switched back to win7 + office 2010.

Yes, it is a clean system without any addons or costum settings.

I guessed it could be a problem with the keyboard, so i did try russian, german and english. Deleting all of these and re-adding, switching default keyboard , but so far no solution.

What is very interesting for me is that Excel and PowerPoint work fine, so shortcuts are the same, doesn't matter which keyboard i choose, only Word is having this issue.

Please check Add-Ins again.

You can have Add-Ins even with a "clean install."

Some come built in to different computer systems.

The same issue here...

Ethan is right that it's an issue with the default keyboard settings, I have multiple keyboards, switch back to English as the default helped me out here.

Raed,

It's very strange that the same issue repro's on a complete different machine (Win 7) with a different version of Office (Office 2010).

Things tends to be more on the custom settings on Widows side, could you please have a try with a different Windows user account/profile? Make sure do not customize any setting in this testing profile.

I finally found the problem, and solved it.

The keyboard installed on the computer was russian and the version of windows and office was english.

After matching the hardware and OS language, everything started working fine.

Sorry for reporting back so late.

Best regards,

Raed Abu-Haija.
