MS Word 2010 Crash

We have several persons using MS Word 2010 converted from MS 2003. One person is having a problem with Word, whenever she opens a file created previously in 2003 the program crashes giving the following error:

Faulting application winword.exe, version 14.0.6024.1000, stamp 4d83e310, faulting module css7data0009.dll, version 14.0.6016.1000, stamp 4d2738a1, debug? 0, fault address 0x000561ea.

I have installed MS Office 2010 SP1, installed the HOTFIX published by Microsoft and have even changed the user profile - the problem still exist.

Intrestingly, as the user Administrator I can open and edit the file without any problem.

Hi,

Based on my research, the issue is caused by Proofing Tools for Office 2003 still being installed.

Uninstall Proofing Tools for Office 2003. Refer to the following article to deploy Proofing Tools for Office 2010:

I have another wrinkle on the same general problem.  I will try this though, even though my older version of Office is actually "Office XP," (2002.) I know that this is an old thread, but I have several users in my Citrix environment who receive .docx files disguised as .doc files and get this same crash every time.  Since our defaults are set not to show the file extensions, having users simply add an x to the end of the file extension is actually more of a challenge than updating all my servers!  Fingers crossed.
