MS Exchange Server 2013 Install Readiness Check Error
Hello All, I'm having a little trouble installing Exchange 2013. I'm installing on a Windows Server 2012 VM and the error's I'm getting seem to be permission related. Error: The Active Directory schema isn't up-to-date, and this user account isn't a member of the 'Schema Admins' and/or 'Enterprise Admins' groups. For more information, visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.SchemaUpdateRequired.aspx Error: Global updates need to be made to Active Directory, and this user account isn't a member of the 'Enterprise Admins' group. For more information, visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.GlobalUpdateRequired.aspx Error: The local domain needs to be updated. You must be a member of the 'Domain Admins' group and 'Organization Management' role group, or 'Enterprise Admins' group to continue. For more information, visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.LocalDomainPrep.aspx I've visited all these links and they say I need to be in the Enterprise Admin's group (which I'm a part of) and Schema Admin's group (Also part of this group). I'm not sure what else I can do as I seem to be in the groups I need to be in. Anyone have any suggestions as how to fix? Cheers, J

Great writeup! I followed your guide and the install started but I got this error: the following error was generated when"$error.Clear(); if ($RoleStartTransportService) { start-SetupService - ServiceName MSExchangeTransport -MaxWaitTimeForRunningState 0:0:40 } "was run: "Service 'MSExchangeADTopology' failed to reach status 'Running' on this server.". Any idea what this means? Cheers, J

Looks like the AD topology service failed to start. If you restart the server, do you see lots of Exchange services and are they started?

I believe restarting the server should fix the issue. If not check the event logs and post the event related to the issueGulab Prasad, gulab@exchangeranger.com My Blog | Z-Hire Employee Provisioning App

IPv6 isn't disabled although it is set for dhcp. Not sure if this matters or not.

IPv6 isn't disabled although it is set for dhcp. Not sure if this matters or not. Hi Jsmith, The IP address of Exchange server is assigned by DHCP? Suggest you give it a statistic IP. If this is a new clear test AD/Exchange installation, I would suggest you start at the beginning(create an isolate AD) if possible. Don't forget renew a SID for OS if you clone VM. And please create a dedicated user account(e.g. exadmin) and assign neccessary permission to install Exchange server. Frank Wang TechNet Community Support

Hi Frank, IPV4 is set for static IP, I left IPV6 alone because I didn't think it needed to be static. This is a brand new vm put on test domain and I do have domain admin privileges as well. I've never installed Exchange before and didn't realize how difficult this was. Cheers, J

Hi jsmith121, It is not very difficult to depolyment a new Exchange organization. Please check the steps one by one in the following Technet document: Install Exchange 2013 Using the Setup Wizard http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124778.aspx Frank Wang TechNet Community Support

Post the screen shot or list the permission on the account you are using to install exchange. Check the schema version also. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/2772.exchange-schema-versions-common-questions-answers-en-us.aspx http://www.bhargavs.com/index.php/2009/11/20/verify-exchange-server-schema-version/Gulab Prasad, gulab@exchangeranger.com My Blog | Z-Hire Employee Provisioning App
