MS Exchange 2007 SP1
We are running MS Exchange 2007 SP1 and disk space seems really full on mail server. I found out that there is a copy of First Storage Group in LocalCopies folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Mailbox\LocalCopies\First Storage Group) that consumes 38Gb of disk space. Our Exchange Database file path is c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Mailbox\First Storage Group\Mailbox Database.edb but not C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Mailbox\LocalCopies\First Storage Group. May I just delete LocalCopies folder? Thank you in advance, Iryna

I dont know if it helps but I dont have a folder named localcopies in that path I would assume it is a copy of the first storage group. The best adivce I could give is to backup the server before you delete it!

You will get local copies folder if you enable LCR for Exchange 2007 storage group. You will not be able to delete the if LCR is enabled and replication is in progress. You should disable LCR if it is enabled and then you can delete the local copies folder. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125195.aspxhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125251.aspxBut yes, do verify the path of production database files and always take backup before making the change. -V

HI, First of all i would like to let you know Microsoft Doesnt recommend placing Databases and Log files on windows installation partition. You cannot remove database files till disable LCR. Please fallow below task plan to disable LCR and remove Database files. Disable local continuous replication ============================= 1) Verify storage group path and copy path Get-StorageGroup -Identity "Servername\Storage group name" | Fl LogFolderPath, Systemfolderpath, CopyLogFolderPath, CopySystemFolderPath 2) Run this command in EMS to disable LCR on storage group Disable-StorageGroupCopy -Identity "Servername\StorageGroupname" -Verbose 3) Check Storage group status Get-StorageGroup -Identity "E2k7-SRV2.DemoLab.local\First storage group" -Status 4) Check Event viewer whether is there any errors related with LCR 5) Delete LCR related storage files manually Chinthaka
