MSExchangeTransportLogSearch stop responding
Hi , Small doubt, when I was installing the Exchange 2007 SP2/SP3 on Windows 2003 SP2 server , I am getting the below error while finishing the installation Mailbox Role Failed Error: Service 'MSExchangeTransportLogSearch' failed to reach status 'Running' on this server. Cannot start service MSExchangeTransportLogSearch on computer '.'. The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion Elapsed Time: 00:05:01 So while checking on net found the below fix but want to know why we need to do that change to fix the issue and what went wrong during the installation that force MSExchangeTransportLogSearch to stop responding. Login to the affected software and open the file location of "X:\\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Bin\ Rename the file “MSExchangeTransportLogSearch.exe.config.template” to “MSExchangeTransportLogSearch.exe.config”

Hi Quote: what went wrong during the installation that force MSExchangeTransportLogSearch to stop responding When the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 loads a managed assembly, the managed assembly calls the CryptoAPI function to verify the Authenticode signature on the assembly files to generate publisher evidence for the managed assembly. · The CryptoAPI function checks a Certificate Revocation List (CRL) that is available at http://crl.microsoft.com. This action requires an Internet connection. · If the Internet connection is blocked, the outgoing HTTP requests may be dropped. Therefore, an error message is not returned. This problem may also occur if the computer cannot resolve http://crl.microsoft.com. This long delay causes the CRL check to time out. · The Service Control Manager (SCM) determines that the service is taking too long to start and that the service has exceeded the maximum service start time. Therefore, the SCM reports the error message, and the Exchange managed code services are not started. Quote: why we need to do that change to fix the issue? AS far as I know, Microsoft never give this kind of suggestion. The official document suggest to update .net2.0 and create configuration files. You can read this KB. It tells you the details. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944752

Hi Amit, Please do below points and start restarting Transport log search service again. 1. Remove check mark from "Certificateion Revocation" in Iexplorer-->advanced 2. Go into Directry where exchange has installed and then go into BIN directry, Here remove template text from "MSExchnageTransportLogSearch.config.template". Keep it only "MSExchnageTransportLogSearch.config" start transport log search service again. Anil MCC 2011,ITIL V3,MCSA 2003,MCTS 2010, My Blog : http://messagingschool.wordpress.com
