Lync 2013 x64 Error

I have Office 2013 x64 Pro Plus installed on my machine and was recently pushed Lync 2013 32-bit as a standalone package. It attempted to install and in turn caused an error. When I try to open Lync, I now receive the error: "The application was unable to start correctly (0x000007b). Click OK to close the application." Any suggestions on how to fix this error without doing a complete reinstall of Office 2013? Thx.

Hi,

In your scenario, you need to install the 64-bit standalone application rather than 32-bit, or it is incompatible with the 64-bit of Office.

By the way, lync is included in Office 2013 Professional Plus, we can consider to enable Lync from Office 2013 Professional Plus instead of installing a standalone version.

Melon,

Thanks for the response. Let me expand on the situation a little bit.

I was upgraded to Office 2013 as a one-off installation, part of a business unit pilot. At some point after my installation, my organization decided to scrap all 2013 installations, and does not support Office 2013. So, at this time, installing Office 2013 is not an option (though we're trying to locate a copy of it). Additionally, enabling Lync from inside the Office 2013 installation menu does not fix the error.

The IT team has suggested rolling back to Office 2010 if we can't find the 2013 installation file.

Thx.
