Lync 2013 crashes at calls

Hi,

I have a few clients that have issues with Lync 2013 client. When they start to make calls, or when receiving a call at hanging up, Lync client freezes and goes to Not Responding. The only way then is to terminate the application and start it up again. I've searched on the web for many possibilities, but all have led to no avail. This includes:

- Installation of the drivers (chipset, video and audio) to newest from the manufacturer

- Removal and clean installation of Lync 2013

- Removed BlueTooth driver

- Removed all updates of Lync 2013 and installed all that are available once that were recommended

- Renamed SIP folder

- Removed and installed .NET FrameWork 4.0

- Installed Visual C++ 2008 SP1

- Disabled Hardware Accelerated Graphics

We use Windows 7 Enterprise x64. Our Lync client is 32 bit, as we use a 32 bit Office suite (we had XP machines still active at that time). When Lync crashes, it gave a SideBySide error with event ID 35, referencing to the UccApi.dll. It mentioned it was expecting amd64, but received x86. So I decided to remove the whole Office suite and install Lync 64 bit for testing purposes.

The exact same thing is happening, yet it created a Report.CER. It only states that the application has entered a hung state, with no additional information.

This doesn't happen on all systems and a reinstallation of the system resolves it. Yet I am at wit's end, as some of our clients do not wish for a reinstallation of the whole OS. I am coming here in the hope that someone has ideas what else can be tried or someone has seen a similar issue.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi,

May I know what program the UccApi.dll belongs to? Probably the issue is related to the provider of UccApi.dll.

Try to unregister this .dll and check if the problem still exists:

1. Close down any processes associated with the program that UccApi.dll belongs to.
2. Use the command:regsvr32 -u "<path to install dir>\UccApi.dll" to unregister uccapi.dll;
3. Restart the computer to test the issue.

If then Lync doesn't crash, reinstall the program that uccapi.dll belongs to, check the result again. In this way we can determine whether the issue is related to this uccapi.dll.

If the issue isn't resolved, for this Lync crash issue, we can try to get more information from event logs:

Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter.

In Event Viewer, browse to Windows Logs -> Application, check if there's any error about Lync.

You can send the logs to me and I will check the information, to protect your private information, please send it to our email address:

Hi Melon,

The UccApi.dll is part of the Lync application, it's located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\OFFICE15\. It has been attempted to re-register, but no success.

I will obtain the logs and sent it to the e-mail address you provided.

Thanks in advance.

With kind regards,

A. Janson
