Lync 2010 causing Oulook to crash by locking the .ost file

Friday, is started with one person. Monday we had 3 more cases, today 4 more cases.

Each case is the same, Outlook will crash as it can no longer access the .ost file. The .ost file is locked by Lync

We've done the scanpst for repair, create a new mail profile, repaired office, uninstalled/reinstalled lync, ran all windows updates.

nothing seems to solve this issue. The only fix is to stop using Lync. That isn't a fix since we are Lync-centric, and use it for allof our communication.

Anyone have a clue as to what a fix is here?

Thank you!

I should mention we are using O365 for email and we have on-prem Lync 2013 server. We haven't updated to Office 2013 yet, that is planned for Q2.

Hi,

For the issue "Lync Locks Outlook's .OST File", I have two suggestions:

1. Make sure both Lync and Outlook are running as administrator, or neither of the two programs are running as administrator.

2. Check the properties of your Lync shortcut or application. Is it configured to run in Compatibility mode? If yes, disable it to check the result.

To disable Compatibility mode or confirm it's not enabled, right click on the Lync shortcut, then select Properties. Click the Compatibility tab in the Properties dialog and uncheck the Compatibility mode box that says "Run this program in Compatibility Mode". Please notice the "Run this program as an administrator" option is also there below.

I hope the information is helpful.

No none are running in compatibility mode, or as administrator. We've never run like that and I've double checked a couple of the systems that are having this issue.

That doesn't help
