Log on to incoming mail server(pop3)- failed error.

I am trying to configure ms outlook 2007 at home with G mail account with server port 995 for incoming mail(pop3) and 465 for outgoing mail(smtp) with ssl encryption. but it gives me error- log on to incoming mail server(pop3)- failed.

Following error showing

1- Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Outlook cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

2-Send test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

Please help me out.

Hi Bhagwat,

This basically means the account settings that you've entered in Outlook are not correct. Please double check your email settings (Incoming mail server, Outgoing mail server, Authentication, Port number, etc.) and see if they are all correct.

GMAIL POP Mail Server Configuration:

For the configuration of the Incoming Mail Server, please use "pop.gmail.com", and use encrypted SSL connection.

For the Outgoing Mail Server settings, please use "smtp.gmail.com". The port used for TLS/STATTLS is 587, for SSS, the port number should be 465.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

If you are sure that you are using the correct account settings in Outlook client, then I would suggest to check with your Internet service provider and see whether they have disabled any of these settings.

Or probably, try again with a different Internet connection and verify result.
