Log Files
Under the folder C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA and C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\COMPACTEXC.log in Ms Server 2003, there are a lot of log files which occupy a lot of hard disk space. Can I move these log files to other drives instead of doing fullbackup to purge these files away?

You can but you would likely lose data in the event of a failure. That is definitely NOT a best practice. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . Hi, I wonder why you don't want to make a full backup instead of removing(moving) the log files. If you haven't an backup application, you can just use the Ntbackup. Suppose you don't make a backup, the database is currupt, you haven't a backup file to restore, so you lost all your data in this database.(If you do have ALL log files since the database created, you can use eseutil to create a database, but you should keep large space to place the log files, and all log files should be OK). So please do a full backup now. More information: How to remove Exchange Server transaction log files http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240145/en-usFrank Wang
