The best safety/security is when you separate transaction logs from Database files, prefferably on separate physical disks. This will also make your system more responsive/faster If there is room for a couple of more physical disks I would get them. Another important factor is how much load users put on your server and how manu are they.

Unfortunatly purchasing additional equipment is not an option. The only thing I can do is split up the partitions. It will be a fairly light load. I have about 100 users with only 20 of them being "power users". The others are the type that just look at their e-mail in the morning and close out until the next day.

Well, your number of users are not that much users. if you were seeking forberformance , here is what i would do if i was in your place: if this server is dedicated for Exchange only, then i would do RAID 1+0 , it will take half of the total Disks available for fault tolerant , but it will give youthe best performance for Exchange. assumes that you have 4 x 72 GB Hard Disks, then after RAID 1+0 , you will have 2 x 72 GB available for you to use. then you can create one logical drive, with Two Partitions, one for O.S , lets say 40 GB, and the rest for E2K7 Data and Logs. another solution just came into my mind: create Two RAID 1 (Mirror) , first set 2 x 72 GB, with Two Partitions (30 GB for OS, and 40 GB for Transaction Log) , second Mirror Set 2 x 72 GB, is for your E2K7 Database and storage groups. again, it depends on the type of users, if you have a heavey users, then you shuold consider adding more disks, as Lasse recommends, and adding to that more memory as well. I hope the above options will meet your requirements. Pls let me know if you need more help. Regards Alaa
