Location is confusing... Setting up room resources in Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007
We have set up a virtual test exchange 2007 server and several virtual test pc'swith outlook 2007. We are trying to simulate how our organization would implement and use the resource scheduling tools in Exhange 2007 and Outlook 2007On the "newmeeting request" dialog, there isa place to put in "LOCATION" and there is a drop down to show previously used locations. There is also a button that says ROOMS. We would like the employees to use the schedule assistant each time to make sure that the meeting can be scheduled properly. If a user types a name of a room in the Location section or even uses the drop down of previously used location then the location does not link properly to a real room.In our case this is a big problem because there are 30 rooms to be used for meetings and about 10 of these rooms must have a room manager approve the request. We have found in our tests that a person could request a room using the location section and type in a room or use a drop down of a previous room and the user would have the impression that the meeting is approved and scheduled. There is no attempt for the meeting request to run the schedule assistant. How can the "LOCATION" section be removed or can the location force a request for a room?

Hi Dave, I would like to explain the Location section cannot force a meeting request being sent to the room mailbox. You have to select Rooms button and select a room or click To button and add the room mailbox to Resources section in order to force the meeting request being sent to room mailbox. Therefore, I think that you need to tell your customer to select resource mailbox by using above method. The workaround I can find now is use a logon script to remove the Location history cache from registry key LocationMRU. The location history is saved in following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Preferences\ Mike
