Locate rogue link within Excel 2007

Hello,

I have an excel spreadsheet which contains a number of links. If I go to the data tab and click edit links, I can see a number of other excel spreadsheets that are linked to the master spreadsheet.

When the spreadsheet is opened, I receive an error saying that is it unable to open what appears to be a web address which links to a .xls file

Unable to open https://.............xls. Cannot locate the Internet server or proxy"

I have done the following on each of the excel spreadsheets that is linked to the master spreadsheet.

  1. Close all workbooks except the one you want to find the links in.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Find.
  3. Click Options.
  4. In the Find what box, enter [.
  5. In the Within box, click Workbook.
  6. In the Look In box, click Formulas.
  7. Click Find All.
  8. In the box at the bottom, look in the Formula column for formulas that contain [.

The thing is, some of the worksheets have links in them as well and there are just too many files to go through. I cannot seem to find a way of trying to isolate this link to remove it.

Is there a tool that can be used to do this?

Many thanks,

Luke

Hi Luke,

It seems only one link in the master workbook is broken, how about just fix the broken link in the master workbook, so we can avoid modifing the other workbooks.

For example, if the link https://test.sample.xls is broken, we just need to make sure it will still work.
