Limited Functionality and Data Loss after 12 hours (literally) with Support

What started as a minor problem while pasting in an Excel 2013 document has resulted in the reinstallation of Office 2013 Professional 3 times, and a reinstall of Windows 8.  Each is within 90 days of service on Lenovo G780 laptop.

After 12 hours online and phone with technical assistance, I am in a worse position when I started.  At last communication, I could not reach representative for an extended duration online.  Top that off with the extension he provided on voicemail is inaccurate.

I need to recover my data for my classes, I am a law student and over half of my semester's work and files is (or was) on my new laptop.  I am truly fearful that the more I try to work with Microsoft Support and each technician's seemingly "willy-nilly" changes to accessibility, and limitations on functionality, as to what other functions yet to be discovered are erred.

Is there a contact available?  By this I mean an English fluent agent, that can both understand the language and hold an objective conversation beyond "yes" and "uh-huh?"

I would very much appreciate it.  I realize that posting in here is a long shot, but I am running out of options and exams are fast approaching.  Michel.watson   @ law.barry.edu  (spaces are intentional)

Hi

In my opinion, reinstalling Office only might not cause you a loss for your data.

Since you have reinstall your Operating System, and you want to recover your data, we recommend you take professional tools or service to have a try.

For another contact Microsoft Customer Service might be another choice. Hope you can meet better support from them.

If you have technical issue next time, you can choose to post to our forum, people who met similar problems would come to help you.

Tyler,

As of last nights 3 hour session with Microsoft Support's "Sandeep Kumar" he said that Microsoft Office 2013 would have to be removed again because there are multiple versions 10,12,15, etc.  There are unassociated programs (audio files recorded) that were lost as well.  I was advised that because they were all corrupt Windows will not recognize them.

Here's where I am at a logical loss: Lenovo laptop is less than 90D old.  Office 2013 is only version I have installed.  I noticed they were changing compatibility within Office and changing root files, registry files, even color reduction modes (whatever all these are).  Could it be possible that I am at the hands of trained monkeys that are glancing at the closest "For Dummies" book on Windows?

Also, I can see the audio files, but have been unable to restore them.  The app that runs them does not access the internet, nor any Office Product?

Hi

Sorry to hear that, it seems that you did not get helpful Support.

Since your situation cannot be easily reproduced via phone, and your laptop is less than 90 day old. we would recommend you go to Lenovo manufacturers and they might be able to help you face to face.

Hope it helps

Tylor,

I contacted Lenovo both face to face through authorized agent and by phone.  Lenovo agent centers do not service Idea series laptops, only the commercial ThinkPads.  Lenovo tech support said that Microsoft technicians messed up my Windows and the warranty from the manufacturer only covers hardware (even when Lenovo installed Windows on the G780 model).  The data is messed up so much in fact, that IE wouldn't open, lags and delays in files, etc.

Furthermore, because Microsoft Support reinstalled Windows, that they (Windows Support technicians) should be held responsible.

So, I basically got a big dose of "passing the buck" because Lenovo will not offer support under Warranty for Microsoft.  Well, they will, for $89 which includes recovery disks and technician setup.

I don't know of any way to hold Microsoft liable for the file damage.  Right now, as a consumer, I am bearing the biggest burden of time, anxiety, and overall B.S.

I have contacted Microsoft Support and asked for a supervisor and was informed that there are only Tier 1 and Tier 2 agents available.  So, if the buck stops at Tier 2, which has effectively jacked up my laptop that is less than 100 days old- then what is recommended?
