Limit internal email strings
Does anyone know if this can be done either through Exchange or with a 3 party tool? This example would apply to internal users only in an Exchange 2003 environment. All email to outside addresses, or to outside addresses where internal users are copied would not be impacted by this new "rule."User A sends and email to user B. User B replies to user A. User A replies back to user B. When user B tries to reply back to user A for a 2nd time on the same email string, a message from the server is displayed informing the user to contact their co-worker directly to discuss further. The email string would be ended by the server and no further forwards/replies on that emails would be able to be sent.

I would first ask why you'd want to micromanage people in such a way?! I don't believe this is possible. Exchange would identify each "reply" as a new message and there wouldn't be any relationship between the string for identifying when the user has reached their limit.I suppose if you really wanted to re-invent things you could write a custom event sync that counts the amount of times a message with the same subject line is submitted from a given user and then act upon that. However for this kind of advice, you'll need to re-post this question in the development forum. Mike Crowley: MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging Administrator

Additionally I should add that any such system would be thwarted by a user simply starting a new email "thread". - which they would quickly learn.Mike Crowley: MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging Administrator

Hi,Exchange itself doesn't has such feature unless customizing one event sink. Please post it on the development forum as Mike recommended.ThanksAllen
