Limit attachments to domain users to smaller sizes than external SMTP addresses

We have a single Exchange 2007 SP1 server with all our users on it.We want to be able to limit attachment sizes for e-mail sent within the company (users should be using Sharepoint - not attachments) to a smaller size than e-mail sent/received to users outside our domain (i.e. public internet addresses) where there islittle alternative but to use e-mail attachments for business communication.Reviewed the Exchange 2007 documentation - there doesn't seem to be a way of limiting attachment size based on internal vs. external users. Any ideas on how to accomplish this

Hi,leave the global settings as they are and set the MaxSendSize per user:get-mailbox | set-mailbox -MaxSendSize:100KB <- sets all MaxSendSize Options to 100KB.Did you ask the Management before you planned it? I guess that could be critical for your job.Viele Gre

This doesn't address the issue. We need the individual users to be able to send large attachements to external SMTP addresses but only small attachments to internal domain addresses. This change will restrict the user from sending large attachments to any user, internal or external.

Well, since you are controlling size of attachment (not the size of message), why don't you use transport rules with below condition, action and exception because all messages pass through Hub transport server and process through transport rules.

Condition
When the size of any attachment is greater than or equal to limit

Action
Send bounce message to sender with enhanced status code
Exception
Except when the message is sent to users outside the organization
