Large Scale Update Outlook Client Settings

We are currently using POP3 and all clients are configured manually.  We have set up an Exchange 2013 server.  I imported a pst then fired up a new mail profile and let Outlook automatically connect to Exchange.  Everything works great.

I would very much like a way to update Outlook clients to not use the manual configuration, but instead connect to the new Exchange server.  Anyone have a better solution than manually reconfiguring each client?

If users should use only brand new Exchange server, you use GP to distribute script that will remove their existing Outlook profile (just once)

After that if user opens an Outlook, they will get a wizard, that will detect a mailbox settings using autodiscover service.

I would recommend to test it before you implement it.

It is not a nicest solution and maybe I would upload the script to some server, inform users and I would turn off pop3 service on old server after a week. But it's up t

Hi Don,

We can create new mail profiles or modify existing mail profiles for all users by using a .PRF file. By using a .prf file, you can set up new profiles for users or modify existing profiles without affecting other aspects of your installation. You can also manually edit a .prf file to customize Outlook 2010 to include Outlook settings or MAPI services that are not included in the Office Customization Tool (OCT) user interface.

For detailed steps, please have a look at the following article:

Hope this helps.
