LUN Layout and Storage Group Questions
I have what i think is a simple question, but sometimes not paying enough attention to simple questions can create complex problems... So here is my simple question...if given a choice, which storage layout is best? Create 1 LUN (using all the capacity of the RAID 5 set...5 Disks* 133 GB = 534 GB) and place multiple SG/DB in the single LUN. Or, create multiple LUNs of equal size (using the same 5 Disk RAID 5 set) placing a single SG/DB in each LUN. I am aware of disk contention and IOPS, I have already tested and verified this will not be an issue. Also, the HA features in Exchange 2007 are ofno concern to this question. The design includes a single DB to SG setup so in the future CCR can be implemented. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

It is considered a best practice to create separate LUNs for each storage group's transaction logs and a separate LUN for each storage group's database. So, if you are using E2K7 and you will be using 5 Mailbox databases, you would need 10 LUNs. One reason to do this is that depending on the snapshot solution you are using, the granularity of restore is per LUN.
