KB3055014 Causes Lync 2013 to crash

After the installation of KB3055014 our laptop users started experience a Lync crash after they undock their device.  After the crash Lync would continuously crash until the EndpointConfiguration.cache file was deleted.  After that Lync would work fine until the next time they undocked.  Uninstalling KB3055014 seems to have resolved this problem.

Has anyone else run into this issue and is there another workaround other that uninstalling this patch?  This patch fixes a security vulnerability so we'd rather not continue running without it.

Hi,

I haven't received this issue before, what kind of device did the users undock?

After the crash I suggest you check the event logs to find the possible cause:

Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the Run window, press Enter.

Expand Windows Logs -> Application, find the related entries about Lync.

You can also send us the logs to help analyze:

One other method is to use the process monitor to monitor the registry, check whether there is anything denied or other symptoms that may be related.
