Join Domain from differnet subnet
I trying to Join a XP SP3 Client from 172.16.47.x to a domain on 192.168.1.x I can ping the domain controller and access resources using IP address only. This client is connected via VPN over a WAN link with static addresses. My question is when attempting to join the domain I only see broadcast traffic via NETBOIS to 172.16.47.255. I doesnt seem to be using the DNS server to find the domain which is the IP address of the DC. How can I force only DNS to find theDC instead of NETBOIS. I attempted to disable NETBOIS completely with the same result. MyDC is running Server 2003 RC1and I only see traffic on the local subnet to the broadcast address. Again Im able to ping both the client and server and browse network shares by IP address only. Also if I try to resolve computer names I receive the following in NSLOOKUP server failed.
