Issues upgrading to Office 365 from Office 2010 Pro.Plus, with many files also created using Office 2003

Hello -

I'm a home user, and have used Office Prof. Plus 2010 for 9 months (installed by a private comp. tech when I switched to a newer CPU), but the MAK was recently deactivated due to over-use, so I need a working Office suite of programs.  I am considering Office 365, allowing me to install on several CPUs.

I still have a lot of files (Word, some Excel, a few Outlook folders) that were created years ago when I had Office 2003, plus of course many created using the Office Prof. Plus 2010.

Has anyone experienced or know of problems with opening these various older files with Office 365?   Because I have not used Access or Publisher, or having any files from those programs, I plan on un-installing Office 2010 and then installing via direct download the Office 365 suite.  Sound reasonable?

Thanks for any assistance you can lend.  - Robert

Hi,

The difference between Office 2013 and Office 365 is that one is owned outright while the other is rented. Except the payment method, we can use Office 365 and Office retail version in same way. Now, Office 365 is including Office 2013, and Office 2016 is coming in the near future.

I recommend you remove Office 2010 pro plus and install Office 365. Please choose the appropriate plan which not including Access or Publisher from this site:

Then, some feature might be removed/added with new Office version, we can work in Compatibility Mode or you can convert your document to the Office 2013 file format.

Hope it's helpful.
