Issues moving an exchange mailbox for a user
I attempted to move a mailbox for a user between two exchange servers on same admnistrative group. I moved the user from Server A to Server B. When the process was completed I still see the user mailbox listed on both servers. Under Server A the user mailbox shows a red x with the option to purge or reconnect, I attempted a reconnect but could not locate the same mailbox to reconnect to. I am able to see the user mailbox on Server B and view emails for that user. Should I go ahead and purge the mailbox from server A? Thanks....B

I am assuming this is for Exchange 2003? Have you expanded the Admin Group, Servers, the name of the server, the Storage Group, the Mailbox Store and then right click on Mailboxes and click Run Cleanup Agent on the old server? I would definately purge the mailbox as well from Server A.JAUCG

I right clicked on it and clicked on purge but got the following error message "the operation cannot be performed because this mailbox was already reconnected to an existing user. ID no: c1034ad6 Exchange System Manager". The user mailbox show Size (KB): 208 Total Items: 0 It is Exchange 2003.

Try Running the Online Maintanence (Storage Group Properties) .. That is the only option. Hoping your DC replications are Fine Regards Satheshwaran Manoharan

OK. have you exited the console and gone back in to see if they are gone. As a side note, you can wait for 30 days - the deleted mailbox retention period - and they should eventually disappear. Either way, it should not be an issue as the mailbox is working.JAUCG
