Issue: KB2553154 causing Excel issue with error "cannot insert object". In our environment we are removing this patch from all Windows 7 systems. This patch was deployed using WSUS 3.0. Unable to remove this patch in following ways:

- Update is not found in "View installed updates".

- Command line "wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:2553154". When this command is run, getting a message as "The update is not installed on this computer".

- Command line "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\Oarpmany.exe" /removereleaseinpatch "{91140000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}" "{D0D69BA5-4BD9-439E-804F-07DC80CF5408}" "1033" "0" , did not work. 

- Extracted the exe file for KB2553154 update which has a .msp file and .xml file in it. Tried to uninstall the patch using the .msp file but did not work.

When I manually download the update and install it, getting a message as "The update is already installed on this computer". When I try to uninstall using command line getting a message as "The update is not installed on this computer". As we are deploying the updates using WSUS, this particular update KB2553154 has been approved to respective groups for installation and the WSUS reports shows that the targeted machines have got the update installed.

Please can anyone provide your suggestions.

Instead of trying to get avoid of this update, I suggest you try the method to fix this "cannot insert object" issue.

Actually Microsoft has been aware of this issue it's already addressed in this blog:

As mentioned in the blog, hotfixes for this issue have been released in the March 2015 Updates for Office 2007, 2010 & 2013.
