Issue with ECP
Hello After deploying my second OWA/ECP on my Exchange 2010 SP RU3, I'm experiencing some difficulties. FYI, the reason for having 2 OWA/ECP’s is that I need one with FBA and one with Windows Integrated, for integrating with other systems. Anyways, on this secondly deployed OWA/ECP, I’m able to use the OWA without any issues, everything working smoothly. If I access the “See all options” I’m also taken directly to the correct ECP, not getting any errors. However, whenever I try to perform an action in the ECP, changing language, or adding a inbox rule etc., I get the following message: “Sorry! We're having trouble processing your request right now. Please try again in a few minutes.” And obviously nothing gets done. My ECP display correct in EMC, and the IIS looks fine as well (comparing it to my functional OWA/ECP) I’ve done a “Test-EcpConnectivity -ClientAccessServer myservername –verbose” And it returns the following: VERBOSE: [07:18:44.293 GMT] Test-EcpConnectivity : Sending HTTP request http://myservername/ecp/RulesEditor/InboxRules.svc/GetList. VERBOSE: [07:18:44.309 GMT] Test-EcpConnectivity : Web exception: http://myservername/ecp/RulesEditor/InboxRules.svc/GetList: Status: ProtocolError Client Access server: Exception: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. Which I dont get any ideas from, so now I turn to you. Any ideas?

That is a generic error. Are you really using ECP with HTTP and not HTTPS? Almost certainly the problem is probably down to the authentication mismatch. Check the properties of the ECP virtual directory that the authentication matches the authentication type selected for OWA. If it is different, then it will cause issues. Hi Hooegh, Any updates? "Each virtual directory must be listening on the standard port (TCP 443) for the site." Details, please see: Configuring Multiple OWA/ECP Virtual Directories on Exchange 2010 Client Access Server http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2011/01/17/configuring-multiple-owa-ecp-virtual-directories-on-exchange-2010-client-access-server.aspx Frank Wang TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hello Simon The virtual directories options from EMC: OWA authentication: forms-based authentication with UPN. ECP authentication: forms-based authentication "The Exchange Control Panel uses the same sign-in format as Outlook Web App." So this is the same to my knowledge. @Frank Thank you for your reply. I'll have a look at the blog. Thanks

Hi Frank I've read the blog you linked to, and next for me is to try and use another IP instead of host headers as I've been using before. This ofcourse means applying the hot fix, which I haven't done yet. I'm pretty confident that this might be what's wrong with my implementation (and not authentication mismatch), and I'm going to mark your post as answer. Thanks to both of you for your time.
